Trapped in Fire: Cybertruck Crash Sparks Lawsuit Over Deadly Design Flaw

In Baytown, Texas, a man named Michael Sheehan died after crashing his Tesla Cybertruck. The crash itself didn’t kill him — it was the fire that followed. He couldn’t escape the burning vehicle because the doors stopped working when the truck lost power.

His family is now suing Tesla for over $1 million. They say the Cybertruck’s design is unsafe because the doors rely fully on electricity. If the battery dies or the system shuts down after a crash, the doors can’t be opened from the outside — and the manual release inside is small and hard to find, especially in a panic.

This wasn’t the first time something like this happened. Other Cybertruck accidents have also raised safety concerns, especially when it comes to getting out of the vehicle after a crash. Some owners are now adding DIY emergency latches, just in case.

While Tesla says the Cybertruck passed safety tests, this case raises a big question: are these high-tech designs putting people at risk when something goes wrong?

Tesla hasn’t responded yet to the lawsuit.
